Does your classroom or office have a lot of whiteboard accessories that you find invaluable in teaching classes or conducting meetings but that make the space look messy when not in use? If so, it’s likely that you have tried looking for some storage ideas that will keep these accessories easily accessible without them lying discarded all over the place. Fortunately, it is possible to make these items look relatively neat without hindering your ability to use them; we have created a list of ideas below for you to choose out of.
- Whiteboard Shelf
Unfortunately, not all boards come fully equipped with their own shelf, but it is possible to purchase one if this is the case. The shelf can be a great way to keep whiteboard accessories within reach in the tidiest way possible; it is most suited to markers and erasers, although people have been known to store magnets and the like here, too.
- Whiteboard Ruler
Not only can a ruler be extremely useful for measuring out straight lines on your board, it can be used as a great little storage device. There are some available that feature some nifty storage compartments where you can hide markers when they’re not being used. Some also feature storage for an eraser, such as a detachable handle.
- Magnetic Strips
By simply purchasing some magnetic strips from your local office supply store and cutting them to size, you can create a great way to store your accessories in plain view. Glue one side of the magnetic strip to each of your markers and erasers, allowing you to simply leave them on the surface of the whiteboard itself.
- Storage Pockets
These fabric ‘pockets’ have some strong magnets sewn into the back of them, allowing you to place it along the bottom edge of your board. As well as putting all of your accessories within easy reach (the ‘pocket’ features compartments for markers, erasers, rulers and pointers) it will keep them out of your way when not in use.
- Labeled Drawers
If your desk is located quite close to your board, you could choose to invest in some plastic storage drawers that you permanently leave on the surface. Dedicate one whole drawer to whiteboard accessories and label it as such so that you can find what you’re after whenever you need it. Just make sure that the items aren’t accidentally mixed up.
If you are the kind of person who just dumps their whiteboard accessories on their desk or in a pencil case, it’s likely that you can never find what you need when you need it. By using one or two of the storage tips from the list that we have compiled above, however, you can rest assured that your markers, erasers and magnets are always within easy reach. On top of this, you should make sure that you throw away accessories that can no longer be used, such as markers that have run dry, so that they don’t get mixed up.
