Tagged as the “Dark Ages” of history; medieval era was the year of witchcraft, conflicts, knights and inclined religious beliefs.
One’s social status can be seen through the medieval hairstyles; especially on women. During this era, women belonging to the higher class society wore their hair long and curly. They accessorized with golden balls, ribbons and bejeweled head bands. On the other hand, those belonging to the lower class or the commoners braid their hair, cover it with bonnets or hoods or wore it short.
Another interesting medieval hairstyle is the “high forehead” look. It was believed that having high forehead is an asset and a fortune. That is why women, especially on the higher class, shaved their hairlines to achieved high-forehead look.
Now, medieval hairstyles are still popular, especially on events like weddings and formal occasions.
