Alternatively, if you do not want to shell out money over a thick printed guide (as we know you won’t), you can listen to our ramblings and rants which we are about to inflict on your hapless soul through this brief article.

Now, without rattling you further, let us give you a brief profile of the some places to visit in Goa:

1. Beaches: The main reason why you have traveled to Goa is the beaches. So, it is needless to say that you would check them out in bountiful. But since the state has countless beaches (and mind you, it is hard to choose between them), you still need to check out the most popular ones. At these beaches, you can bathe under the sun, wade into the salty water, ogle at the bikini-clad foreigners, sip into coconut and fulfill your adventure dreams by opting for water sports (parasailing, snorkeling, jet skiing, etc).

Beaches you must visit– Anjuna (try visiting it on Wednesday when it hosts the famous Flea Market), Baga, Vagator and Palolem.

2. Churches: The serene and Gothic churches are also the best places to visit in Goa. The best ones are located in Old Goa. Try visiting as many as you can.

Churches you must visit– Basilica of Bom Jesus, Se Cathedral.

3. Forts: If you have bought a guide which we egged you to buy, then flip it open and check out the location of the top forts. Interestingly, some of them are situated on the beaches themselves. They are historic, majestic and have served as the shooting locales for many Bollywood films including ‘Dil Chahta Hai’.

Forts you must visit– Aguada Fort, Chapora Fort
