6 Simple Ways to Keep your Skin Healthy

You can look at some people and immediately see that they have beautiful skin. For others, those people are the route of endless jealousy. Well do not worry, as there are things that you can do to help your skin look and feel more beautiful – and they are the same things that will encourage graceful aging. Some are just born with the gift of a perfect complexion, but even they have to look after their skin, or it will not last forever. Here then, are six tips that will help you to keep your skin looking younger and fresher for longer.

Eat right

You may not think that the food that you put into your body could effect the look of the outside, but it really does. There are certain junk foods that have an incredibly negative effect on your complexion, and some fatty foods that will cause you to break out. Remember to eat plenty of frutis and vegetables, and get plenty of vitamin C – whether through diet or supplements.

Whether your skin is dry or not, it is crucial that you use a moisturizer everyday. The best time to apply moisturizer is right after you wash your face, as the face wash will often remove your skin’s natural oils. It is for this reason that it is also good to pat your face dry, rather than wiping, as it allows some of the oils to stay.

Again, whether your skin is oily or dry, it is good to exfoliate it at least a couple of times a week. They key is not to over-exfoliate, or it can be damaging to your skin. If you have very dry skin, you can get exfoliating face washes that cater to sensitive or dry skin.

Another benefit to some moisturizers is the protection that they offer from the sun. Most have at least a small SPF, but if they don’t, consider wearing sunscreen on a daily basis. This is vital in offering protection from the sun’s harmful rays that can both age you and cause skin cancer.

Don’t smoke

Smoking ages you, it is as simple as that. As well as the discoloration that often occurs to a person’s fingers, fingernails, and teeth, there is also the matter of the wrinkles that will form around your lips. Smoking also has damaging effects on the oxygen getting to your skin, as well as its collagen and elastin – both things that will cause premature aging.

Be happy!

Stress is a massive contributor to premature aging. If you live a happy, stress-free life, you will find that it is reflected in your skin. Stress lines and wrinkles will not form, and your skin will acquire that all-important happy glow. So start thinking now about ways to de-stress your life.
